In order to receive CJA funding, each state is required to establish and maintain a multidisciplinary Task Force on children’s justice. Texas received its first CJA grant in 1990, and since that time has maintained a multidisciplinary Task Force responsible for overseeing grant activities. The Task Force adopted bylaws in September 2007.

The Task Force currently consists of 25 members, with at least one representative in each of the required categories. Task Force officers include a Chair and Vice Chair, and the Task Force appoints committees and working groups as needed.

The Task Force meets quarterly at the Texas Center for the Judiciary. Member and officer elections occur annually at the last meeting of the fiscal year.
